About the LAMD

The London Association of Master Decorators (LAMD), was founded by Henry Campbell in 1908, and united with the then National Federation of Master Decorators of England and Wales in 1917.

The LAMD members comprise of decorating companies and sole traders operating in the London area, defined by the boundaries of the M25, that have a proven track record of high quality craftsmanship and excellent customer service. Membership is also available to those decorators outside of the area, but still carry out work within the M25 orbital.Members of the LAMD can display the LAMD logo on their business letterheads and all other marketing material, thereby adding prestige to their company image and profile. It assures clients that they are employing tradespeople that are highly skilled in a vast range of painting and decorating tasks, such as;

  • marbling and woodgraining,
  • installing Lincrusta
  • bespoke paint effects and finishes
  • restoration and re-decoration of period properties
  • wallpaper hanging.
  • gilding

The LAMD is still united with The Painting and Decorating Association, so it is recognised as a branch of this respected trade association.

The LAMD recommends designers, architects, house owners and contractors employ one of their members to carry out their decorating work, as they can all be sure to use a competent decorator with full public liability that have undergone a strict vetting procedure.

The LAMD believes that quality may come at a price and being the cheapest is not always the best in the long term. It always pays to use a professional specialist that has experience and vast knowledge in their field of expertise.
